A gift for our daughter was sold out in all the stores near us. Found it online Friday, but to guarantee delivery before Christmas would require next day delivery costing almost as much as the gift. Took standard estimated to be delivered tomorrow. Arrived yesterday!
Heat stopped working in the upstairs zone Sunday (hot water baseboard). Thermostat’s setting was higher than the room temp and the batteries were good so it should have been running. Used the screwdriver stethoscope trick to confirm that the circulator was not running while the other was. Called my oil guy’s answering service. While waiting for a return call adjusted the heat on the thermostat down and back up, checked circulator again, nothing. Short while later my son said that the heat was on. Callled the oil guy to cancel the service call and subsequent bill.
Merry Christmas to all who observe it, to those who observe a different seasonal tradition may your day and the coming year be filled with peace and joy!
Christmas Eve this year I quickly put up the small tree that is normally in our studio with about 25 ornaments in our living room on one of husband’s weavinwork tables for as he never cleared room as is suppose to so I can have it from middle of Dec to middle of January for Christmas decorating. Large plastic bear joined the tree, sitting on the bench he used when weaving, as had to take it out to get the tree out.
Went to midnight mass. New priest, he is one of the ones who uses personal modern things for his homily – don’t like same, miss the priest who is usually there & gave a good homily, sure we will have this one for several years.
Came home – husband went to his computer upstairs, I to my laptop in kitchen. Later (around 3 am) we had normal pre-bed snack so neither has a blood sugar low overnight. He went upstairs. I put the 3 or so DVDs & book he had bought himself & I had wrapped, under the tree and joined him to go to sleep.
Around noon we woke up (normal time for us) & had lunch. Then went in living room & he opened his “gifts”. Wasted time around the house until time to go to the h*ll of dinner at his sister’s house. Gave nieces (9 and 17) their gifts which were immediately tossed aside as each had received more than most children receive for Christmas in their entire lives. (No, really, younger one had received 20 video game cartridge – @$20 each) alone and that was the smallest of what she received.) Dinner ran about 7 hours as SIL has to “digest” between courses. No main course – antipasto, pasta, desert. I eat nothing as there is nothing I can eat – I used to eat main course (even though she kept the precooked ham in a car trunk from when she bought it instead of in the fridge), but she discontinued it as it was too much food for her to eat. I washed the dishes – hard to do as she has no hot water or water pressure – for several years now.
Came home, had pre bed snack and went to bed. Same as every other year.

I don’t know why I’m not in a Christmas coma
Worked the last five days, and the store manager said yesterday looked like it was going to be an all time one day record for our store in sales
Off today and tomorrow and I should spend the whole 2 days sleeping, bu here I am up early and reading comics
I’ll nap later

The peaceful smile is the remnants of victory. Brother candy is the tastiest. Especially once he finds out you snuck it out from under him.
