One of my past pastors said in a First Sunday of Christmas sermon that this was his favorite part of Christmas because of the calm. Mine too, for the same reason (that and my sister’s birthday tomorrow). I built on that and the Matthew text about the Flight to Egypt while filling in for a vacationing later pastor to speak of the Church’s Christmas (December 25-January 5) as the Christian’s escape from the World’s Christmas (November 1-December 25).
