I recently visited Romania, which I really enjoyed. But on that trip one of the tour guides was a woman who enjoyed telling us a lot about her young son who was studying two languages in school: English and Chinese. She had encouraged him to pick Chinese as well as English because she believed that it would be important to him in business in the future. That impressed me.

Year of the Rat – Metal Rat, to be precise. Possibly stainless steel. Harry Harrison would be proud, may he rest in peace.

Let’s not confuse Chinese culture with the present-day Chinese government.

Unfair Chinese trade practices? Those really exist?

Self-pity has its limits, Monty. Make your own NYE Party! And continue to study Chinese; it might come in handy some day soon….
