I continue to enjoy the Star Wars films. They are nice mindless escapism. Episodes 1 & 2 left me cold, the rest I enjoyed to greater or lesser degrees. Actually, one of my favorites was a recent stand-alone, Rogue One. (note that the word “recent” is meant for us over 60, the younger readers would likely think it was ancient).
No one ever said they got here from there. We just accept that there are humans in their time and galaxy as well. It’s fantasy. When the first one was made, I don’t imagine they’d have had the budget or the FX to make all the characters look suitably, believably non-human.
My friend works for a tech company in Atlanta, and they’re being taken by their CEO to a company wide screening at 10:00 tonight. (Thursday) They did the same thing when Last Jedi was released. They all still have to work tomorrow, though. Maybe their boss is trying to prevent what’s happening in the comic strip.
Here’s the deal, it’s the music! Take any of the movies, remove the music, and they are silly. The music is fantastic and the movies are fantastic in how how they move with the music.

I assume that, given the name and the artwork for the title, Rise of Skywalker is something to do with Star Wars.

Sorry, I lost interest a long time ago after trying to pass along what got to be less entertaining each time a new movie was released.

Am I the only one who thinks that “Rise of Skywalker” sounds more like the title of an adult film parody of Star Wars than an actual Star Wars title?

I am not going at all. The hype is all stupidity. People are conned too easily.

Given what is going on a few hours of escapism is probably a good thing for all of us.

One of the very earliest posters for Star Wars has it set in the year 3000 AD and it was after Luke Starkiller had been made male.
