National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. At work, it’s Dress-Up Day. We’re having our holiday meal. I’m not going to dress up though (hardly anybody does). I’m going to wear a Christmas sweater. But it isn’t an ugly sweater. It has a cat on it.

Mudd Day. I had to look this up to see what Mudd Day is. I wondered if it was the former newscster Roget Mudd. Nope. Here’s what I found:
Mudd Day on December 20th annually recognizes the birthday of Dr. Samuel Mudd.
After assassinating Lincoln on April 14, 1865, Booth rode with co-conspirator David Herold to Mudd’s home in the early hours of the 15th for surgery on his fractured leg, before crossing into Virginia. Sometime that day, Mudd must have learned of the assassination but did not report Booth’s visit to the authorities for another 24 hours. This delay appeared to link him to the crime, as did his various changes of the story under interrogation, and on April 26, authorities arrested Mudd. A military commission found him guilty of aiding and conspiring in a murder, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment, escaping the death penalty by a single vote.
President Andrew Johnson pardoned Mudd, and he was released from prison in 1869. Despite repeated attempts by family members and others, Mudd’s conviction has never been overturned nor has his record been expunged.
There was one on the email you sent, I think it was number 6, about toys under a fridge or something. I couldn’t open it – got an error message about it being a dangerous link – but don’t see it here. Would you repost the link? Maybe I was doing something wrong.
Before I forget…@tad1…on dog walkies an hour ago a honking flock of Canada geese flew overhead against a bright blue sky. They were headed south, of course. Saw an adorable all black kitten (wearing a collar?) and a few squirrels too. Brrrrr…only 20 F…my feet and hands were freezing.
Well, on the bright side, all the coal Chesney gets can be used to heat the warehouse in the winter. On another note, got all my Christmas shopping done. Thank goodness for that. When i was in the pet shop, I saw some green tubelike things in one of the tanks in the saltwater section. I was wondering what the heck they were. Turns out they were mangrove plants.

Got to give him credit for the effort to knit all that without playing with the ball of yarn.

There isn’t enough coal in Canada to fill that, but it would make a nice warm blanket for 10 little kitties!

Nice knitting, Chesney! That must have taken hours of work – but a good way to pass the time on the loading dock.

And here I thought that Mudd Day honoured Harcourt Fenton Mudd.

That’s quite an accomplishment for any cat.

That must have taken Chesney a long time to knit that…..a long time he wasn’t getting in trouble.
