Baseball lulls require that kind of palaver.

I seriously doubt that was the most obscure stat ever recorded. Seems like every game they come up with at least one better than that.

Baseball is a game of statistics. My best friend when I was growing up and I used to joke about the “longest home run give up by a bespectacled left-handed pitcher in the second game of a day-night double header.”

This is precisely what I hate about playoff broadcasting. And not only in baseball. Best reason to use the “MUTE” button on your TV remote. If you’re listening on radio, well, then you’re screwed.

The two most useless comments I have ever heard were – “the team that scores the most runs usually wins the game” ( Toronto announcer in the 80s) and at the Rio Olympics in 2016"if he lands this this with 9.0 or better it will be the USA’s first gold medal in Men’s gymnastics since London in 2012"

I am hugely entertained by the arcane stats I hear on baseball broadcasts. they are so crazy.

Things my father taught me: When watching sports on TV, mute the TV and turn on the radio which is always set to the local classical music station.

Here’s an odd trivia item: Last Sunday, Senorise Perry of the Buffalo Bills had three rushes against the Jets. It was the first time since 1977 a Bills player wearing the #32 ran the ball. Perry is also the first Bill to wear #32 since 1977.

Almost as bad as what’s happened to olympic broadcasts with background stories of every athlete and no showing of the actual games
