That’s because your dog’s soft growl was a warning heeded by whatever had been in your hall! Snirkle. After our Head Cat died, quite frequently, the rest of the cats would hesitate at the bottom of the stairs, and occasionally change their minds about going upstairs. We always figured Marmite was up there and telling them he was still Head Cat and he wanted a lil peace and quiet…upstairs…alone…by himself…
OMG …I just read on Brian’s official site that Annie was taken from him (or did I mistake this?). Say it ain’t so. I can’t believe your rescue network works like this…to remove Annie from you guys. Please, Brian…I hope you can get her back. This is truly not fair!!!
Having read Durak’s comments in yesterday’s strip, I decided to visit the official DED website. (https://brianandersonwriter.com/official-site-for-dog-eat-doug-and-the-conjurers) This is how I came to learn of Annie’s removal…we don’t do this sort of thing in Canada. Once an animal is fostered, there are periodic “visits” to ensure that all is well. However, I believe that once a foster has been formalized, it is only the foster parent that can return the animal…not the other way around. I could just cry; I’m so upset about this. Fingers crossed for Annie’s swift return to the Anderson’s. This is just awful.

It’s scary enough when one of my dogs stares down the empty hallway at night and softly growls. There is never anything there (that I can see).

Being a guard dog is tough when your people sneak up behind you.
