Normally I always root for the predators like the croc’s grabbing wildebeasts, lions taking down water buffalos, and tigers taking down a wild boar, however poor innocent prey like penguins being chased by leopard seals, or baby turtles being picked off as they scramble down the beach by birds and others I always root for the penguins and turtles. As for most dogs the only “prey” they know is “pray” that some food falls off the table.
My cat does that when I cook an omelet! He’s attracted by the aroma as it cooks, then sits staring at me while I eat it. I leave some crumbs for him to eat, and then he licks the plate.

Lurking is not our style. We just get in and take our prey!

My dogs know the sound of the fork hitting the table after the final bite, that means it’s plate licking time.

Drop the meatball and nobody gets hurt.

My dog is much more subtle. He’ll walk to about 3 feet from the dinner table and lie down acting like his taking a nap…with one eye open…
