And do you know what the treatment is for broken ribs if you’re in the hospital recovering from an auto accident? Yup: Not a damn thing! Wrapping your torso would only encourage you to breath less deeply, and that could lead to pneumonia, and that could lead to keeping you in the hospital longer. (But they will give you another pain pill. After 6 more hours.)
I landed on my ribs on Christmas Eve 2018. It cost a dislocated rib, internal bruising and a torn membrane. Couldn’t sleep in our bed for almost a month. The greatest dread…sneezing.
when I turned 65, mine automatically atrophied. now all I can do is open my mouth when I bend my elbow or swing a golf club at a small white ball. but lifting, carrying, assisting, or anything requiring additional or different muscles seem to have simply become impossible
There are exceptions, of course, some of them truly sad. But it’s right enough often enough to be used enough when everything else isn’t cheering you up enough:

Certain kind of pain can remind you of parts you’ve forgotten. Not always a bad thing

Believe me, you don’t want to know how many muscles you have. And ligaments. and bones.
