Clay litter turns into slippery clay slime. My car slid down my drive on it. Salt and sand.

Only those of us who have used cat litter on the driveway will get this one.

That’s what you get when you throw Ludwig’s used litter outside…………lol (that is what I first thought this was about)

Best thing to use is chicken grit. Great traction and you can sweep up the excess.

One more thing us Southerners don’t have to deal with.

Plus every neighborhood cat found the litter. They were in deep…never mind.

Advice best taken with a grain of (road) salt.

I employ the used clay to kill grass around the bird feeder in the garden. Aggravates the squirrels.

I noticed the raised flag on the mailbox, and my first thought was “Who sends postal mail nowadays?”

I so enjoy images of snow in the comics, knowing I don’t have to deal with in real life. It’s nice to be in SoCal this time of year.

I don’t have a cat or freezing weather, so I had to read the comments to understand this. I guess cat litter works like salt on ice?

Clumping clay litter turns into something like concrete chunks. Impossible to break up.

One local store carries a brand of rock salt that has it labelled on one side for melting ice and on the other for use in ice cream makers. The people who stock the shelves just turn it around as the seasons change.

The old guy next door used clumping cause it came in a jug – the excessive moisture of the snow turned it into the consistency of wet cement – it did NOT clump.( OR HARDEN LIKE CEMENT WOULD.) Clay litter worked more like sand/

Meh. Back when I still had my cat, I used clumping litter made from shredded corn husks. It wasn’t the greatest at clumping and you had to replace it more often, but at least it didn’t turn into a slimy mess.

Our State Transportation department uses beach sand on snow/ice mixed with some salt. For me, I just use sand since I do not want salt corroding the drive or the cars.
