I bought the extended warranty of 150,000km for my 2010 Ford Fusion. At 145,000 it needed a major transmission repair which they did at no charge. Unfortunately the problem returned at 151,000 and Ford wouldn’t cover it saying the car was now out of warranty and they only guarantee repairs for 3 months. I was less than impressed and took the car to my garage mechanic friend down the street who did the repair for less than what Ford wanted to charge me and I’m still driving it today at over 250,000kms. The car has never been back to Ford except for a recall and that’s another story!
My father bought a new truck in the fall of 1990. He took out the extended warranty, but it was a serious waste of money. He drove so much running his business that he had to take the truck in every week for maintenance because he would hit the next distance driven scheduled maintenance. When he passed in the summer of 1992 that truck had over 400 000 km, and had been out of warranty for over a year. Yes he drove that much in under 2 years.

That’s an unusually honest telemarketer. I’d be suspicious.

That’s the reason I never buy any extend warranty.

An extended warinty is always a waste. If you think about it your paying someone thousands just in case it breaks? Same with tire warranty’s.

Insurance exists to pay the company and its investors, which are conflicts of interest with paying the insured.
