It’s kind of an unwritten rule that there is no yelling in the house. Many times when going upstairs I tell my kids, “text me if you need anything.” When we say “call me when dinner’s ready”, we mean just that, call.
I once saw two boys about 14, 15 sitting on the same couch in the foyer at my church and one chuckled to himself. I said what’s so funny? He said the other guy just texted him a joke. I said there’s two things wrong with that. One you can touch each other’s elbows if you just reach your arms out and two, if you can’t say the joke in church you prolly shouldn’t have said it at all. They just said, Man you just don’t get it and I said I’m glad I don’t get it.

The cell phone makes it easy to not talk. Maybe someday it will replace speaking.

I find it difficult to understand why Gladys would want to text someone that she is not speaking to.

This seems to be a bit of role reversal, young’ens these days consider texting as conversation, even when they’re in the same room.
