Cartoonists have no end of fun with suits of armor- but chances are that real knights were not fully suited and helmeted 24/7. For jousts, yes. For standing around inside buildings- maybe not so much. Of course, I never lifted the visor on one of those armored suits you see in castle tours today. Saw a whole corridor of them in Prague recently. “Anyone still in there?”

It’s a good rule of thumb to follow if one has a weak sphincter and is prone to diarrhea, especially inside a suit of armor.
