Same thing happens to me when I try to pay bills.

better edit that automatic answering machine, Liz (“if you’re Jon Arbuckle just to chat, just hang up”)

When I hit those long automated systems, I don’t get sleepy or bored. I get very angry!

The options aren’t even in numerical order like they should be.

Subtle.

Sometimes if you just hit the 0 you can get a live body.

I can totally relate to this.

Aside from the title panel, This is a rare Garfield-less strip! Neat!

Usually, the “Para Espanol” is the first option. There are millions of German, Chinese, Italian,French, Slavic and other nationalities in this country. I wonder why it is that the only language option is “Para Espanol” ….

I’m glad that my Vet’s receptionist picks up straight away. In an emergency a pet could be dead or close to it if you had to listen to all that lot.

At least it’s not like those old strips, where when Jon would try to call random women to get a date with them and even the answering machine would hang up on him before he can even get a word in edgewise about it.

I had this experience the other day calling a clinic. “If you know your party’s extension, enter it now. For results, last name A-F, press 111. For results, last name G-M, press 112. For results, last name N-S, press 113. For results T-Z, press 114. To speak to the nurse, last name A-F, press 121” You get the idea. I had to sit through the whole thing to get to reception, which was 7, not 0.

The dame with red lucious lips is on guard. Poor Jon is unable to last till the electronic programmed voice. But that is really long I believe.

Well, at least you can’t say that Liz is unprofessional.

My wife has a cousin who did that with their home phone…yup. It was boring!
