I am a teacher and home bound due to the coronavirus crisis. Dirt sure has a domino effect. Been cleaning and finding more places to clean due to cleaning the previous places as Elly is finding here.
When we lived in Hamilton, Ontario the steel mills put so much soot into the air that as soon as you cleaned your windowsills, they turned black again. There was a saying, “Hamilton was a place where you opened the windows so you could hear the birds cough!”
I remember my mom running all over the house cleaning everything that stood still. She also cooked a HUGE ham with all the fixin’s you could imagine. She then said, “I need a break.”, sat down in my dad’s favorite chair… and yep, her water broke. My brother was born exactly 35 minutes later. By the next morning dad’s chair was sitting outside, never to return again. Mom was never in labor for long, I was the slowest at 2 hours and 49 minutes.
Once years ago when my husband had done something to aggravate me, I washed and waxed on fender of his badly oxidized car. He then had to wash and wax the whole thing. In spite of that, we are celebrating our 57th anniversary this spring.
Two hours ago, I started out to just sweep and wash the tile in the living room and kitchen ( open floor plan ) in our small apartment… While I was at it, I figured I might as well do the bathroom,… and then, … why not the bedrooms? … a while I was waiting for those floors to dry, might as well do the 3rd-floor roof patio, as well…
I´m sure many of you know what I’m talking about. I really know how Elly felt.
Yup April is almost here and time for room by room cleaning….washing walls, vinegar wash of all furniture etc and then a carpet cleaning of each room. Can’t wait.

I have heard about pregnant women who go into a nesting mode where they start cleaning everything. I was not one of them.

I’m still guilty of doing this. My husband calls it “making a clean spot.” :)

She made the Ripley ‘Newt Error’. She made a clean spot and now she has to do the whole thing.

Yeah, she’s right about house cleaning. I need to get a shovel out and start on my place.
