I remember reading somewhere that America used to celebrate New Years on a day other than the gap between December and January, before converting to the Gregorian calendar sometime in the late 1800s. I forgot the exact date, but I think it was somewhere in this range.

In our family, kids got to stay up as late as they wanted on Christmas night. To play with the toys, make the models, etc. Midnight was my goal from about age 7 or so. And I actually made it when I was about 12. At about 16 or so, bro and I stayed up until dawn making very detailed plastic models of sailing ships.

And then a few short years later, I was working a graveyard shift. My how things change!

Good comic but I think Dana got her holidays mixed up.
