Queen Breezy put King Rip into checkmate when she presented him with Baby Fireball. At that point, all of their pieces were removed from the board. No one is interested in the adventures of a father with children.
This is not a ping on Breezy or on Rip. Rip went into this situation with his eyes open, and it is hard to imagine any male not willing to raise Baby Fireball so long as they get to sleep with an adoring Breezy.
It is discomfiting to see Rip ignore his wife and child while he pursues further adventures. It is one thing for Cobra to observe that Rip is “a week late for breakfast!” It is an entirely different thing to put Breezy and their child through that experience.
You have painted the strip into a corner. Once again, Rip is on another adventure with a toothsome babe while his wife is back at the house, feeding their baby and changing their baby’s diaper. Evan as a man I can fully understand Breezy looking around at other men.
While Rip may be a hero, he is a flat tire and a wet smack as a husband.
It is time to decide which one of your current cast of characters are going to play Mike Nomad against Rip’s Steve Roper, or set off another catpocalypse to reset the strip..
R.J. is an obvious candidate to play Mike. I think Lexy is above his weight class right now, and Dixie Jones is below his weight. How about sending R.J. south to do battle with Jenkins and the two sisters?
Meanwhile, we can also watch R.J.’s other two foils evolve.
