When I began guitar lessons (still not good) the first music book’s first lesson was a “song” called “Random Patter.” It was fifteen 1/4 notes long, played on the bottom three strings. It helps the student get used to the strings and pick.

It is entirely possible that I am conflating it in my memory with this strip, but isn’t there a strip in which Petey talks about a tune called “Fidgety Digits”? Am I having a deja vu moment?

The Mozart attribution gag is brilliant.

Zappa called a song The Black Page for this very reason…

The melody to “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” was actually written by Mozart.

An oboe seems about right given the current world crisis…

Sorry I’m late, everybody. Was working at the grocery store until closing time and did some of the clean up after closing. Clocked out at 2345 and zonked out until 0030. At least it wasn’t as mayem-like as Saturday and Friday.

You’re quite the musician, Petey, who cannot bring yourself to tell Mother you don’t like doing.

Petey’s oboe has always struck me as a little odd, given his, um, sensitivities.

Mozart denied it; wonder if they asked P.D.Q. Bach……

Very impressive. Last I knew, all of Petey’s oboe music just sounded like “Eenck!”

I guess the great composer learned his lesson after writing a song called “Lick My @##” and confirming it was his. I’m not making that up!

    Hinck!

Petey’s prowess proven by his proficiency in playing!

Maybe not Mozart, but still lotsa notes!

Love panel 2 and Alice’s complaint in panel 3!
