I remember sometimes watching “The Edge of Night” back in the mid 60’s when I was a kid if I happened to be home for some reason. That theme song is running through my head as I type this!
Soaps – 6 months later you watch 1 or 2 episodes and you are caught uPI remember Quiz shows where on all morning, when you stayed home you could actual learn something
As I said two days ago, there was a Calvin and Hobbes one-off strip where Calvin was ill and off-school and watching TV from his sickbed. He was enjoying watching an adulterous couple who were planning to murder their spouses and marry each other. Someone replied to me that it sounded like a Hitchcock TV episode.
I’ve never had a dog remotely interested in the TV. The dog channel was free one weekend when I was babysitting my sister’s dog, and Emma wasn’t interested in that, either. Mr Kitty LOVED the original CHARMED series. He’s sit on my lap and watch it with me. I’ve always believed he wanted to be a familiar and was deeply disappointed that I wasn’t a witch.

Hey, a dog’s got to have something to do while his boy is at school, right?

Isn’t it a bit too mature for the young Red?

I don’t think they were quite as racy back them

It is funny – I can recall women in our neighborhood having to be home in time for certain soap operas – you know, Rover

Dark Shadows was a late afternoon soap and many teens wouldn’t miss an episode. I don’t think I would have let Red watch that one.

Darn! I thought smell-o-vision had finally gone mainstream!

Too bad they didn’t have Hallmark movies back then. Red could’ve really confounded him and Rover would’ve never been able to foretell the endings!

Nope. TV was out for me. “If you’re too sick to go to school…”

Both Red and Rover watch too much TV. It’s mind numbing.

During the 60’s and 70’s, I don’t remember too many kids having a tv in their bedroom.
