No, other way around, Offal. Pilot will get a break from you. At least he’s doing something constructive with his time, something that will ultimately behefit the family as it means the welfare of the horses.
And I must say I’m a little surprised that Morbis would foolishly send Offal. A little surprised, not completely. Morbis can be a bit dumb at times, especially where Offal is concerned.
Reminds me of a flight I took back across the country from a business meeting last fall. I was starting to come down with airplane-crud, too.
I was wedged in my middle seat (getting bruises on outsides of elbows) and the guy in the window seat asked me to stop knitting so he could sleep. It wasn’t the noise, it was that he could feel me moving.
I told him that if he were taking up less of my seat, he wouldn’t feel me moving. He harumphed and leaned against the window. Plenty of room for him . . .
(Yes, I was getting a fever and feeling very crabby.)
Let’s see.. He’ll be given a list including a skyhook, a left-handed hammer, a bucket of propwash, a four-inch piece of hardware, a bottle of compass water, a smokebender, and a gallon of red-and-white striped paint.
Oh, dear. Another simple errand that Offal can turn into an apocalypse. He’ll prolly let the Nazis get him drunk and spill the location of the family. Or take them back with him. Yeah. Five bucks that he takes them back to camp with him.

Morbis, don’t send Offal to town. I don’t need to read the tea leaves to know he’s somehow going to get you in trouble.

I like the tiny scarf around the rat’s neck. One of Georgia’s little touches.

Finally Pilot can read in peace. I hate being interrupted in the middle of a good book.

Morbis, Morbis, Morbis. Your mother wouldn’t make such a silly choice. Well, not unless she were about to move the camp.
