Reply to WDemBlk from yesterdayâs comments on my 15-year anniversary at Walmart â no, they donât celebrate our anniversaries, but for every 5 years, you get a framed certificate, a pin saying how many years youâve been there and a new badge saying how many years youâve been there. since I didnât work on my anniversary, I have not been presented with my 15-year pin, certificate and badge yet, but maybe Iâll get it tonight (though sometimes they seem to forget to give them to us in a timely manner). Theyâre supposed to give those things to you at a meeting so others can congratulate you, but they donât often have evening meetings and Iâm not there for morning meetings. I saw my stuff in the personnel office a couple days ago, though. One thing that is disappointing though, is the fact we used to get an extra 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) â or however many hours your usual work week is- but they reconfigured all of that last year and now I wonât get the extra 40 hours until next year. Iâm real bummed out about that. Iâve been looking forward to those extra 40 hours ever since my 10-year anniversary (they added PTO hours then, too).
Tolkien Reading Day. With so many people not allowed to go to work, this would be a good chance to do some reading. I have never read anything by Tolkien myself, though.
Wisconsin has joined the few other states that have a âshelter in placeâ order and all non-essential businesses have been ordered to close. We sell grocery and pharmacy items at Walmart (as well as paper & cleaning products) so we qualify as âessential needsâ. They have some letter in the personnel office which they want us all to take to show police if we get pulled over and asked where weâre going. The letter indicates that we are Walmart associates so we can be out. But I heard on the news tonight that police wonât be pulling people over to ask where theyâre going. I sure hope they wonât! I donât need that kind of hassle. I wonder if Iâll see a lot less traffic going to work & home again now.
I actually like having the store close at 8:30 while I work until 10:00 or 11:00, because then I can work without having customers coughing around me. The atmosphere is much more relaxed after the customers leave. And we keep one register and the 4 self-checkouts open right up until 11:00 so associates can shop.
After Gent said that he thought that Night Gaunt has disappeared (on BCN), I looked into it.
I think that Night Gaunt has been banned.
I called N-G yesterday to explain why he did not see Likes to his Alley Oop fan fic story bits. He has sent his appeal to the Phantom Zone disbursement department.
The local Krogerâs stores are opening from 7 to 8am just for senior citizens. The one I went to had a manager at the door turning away younger people. They had paper towels and toilet paper but I didnât need either. They didnât have hand sanitizer or Clorox Cleanup but I didnât expect to find either.

NoreenKlose: I donât mind stewed tomatoes in soups, but to just eat some on a plate? Nope.
