Interesting nom de plume you’re using, Snoopy!

I read “Love Story” when I was a sophomore in high school. I loved the book, and then my French teacher gave me a French-language translation. After I finished that, she would point out a dirty word in the text and ask me “Do you know what that means?”

Pretty simple of a title for a short story. (Personally, I would’ve changed “Erich Beagle” to something like “Alfons Beagle”… the first name’s initial would throw people off if y’all know what I mean.)

For once, he didn’t begin the story with “It was a dark and stormy night.”

I read Love Story in junior high….seemed pretty predictable as a story line even then to me. I actually enjoyed the movie more than the book, and that’s unusual.

So is this a rare case where the cheap knockoff is better than the original?

I like the way Snoopy, by using the device of a tennis match, cleverly gets the double meaning of the word love into his saga. Bon mot mon ami!

I remember seeing the movie, but that was a long time ago.

At least he didn’t choose Jonathan Livingston Beagle as his pen name.

Dunno about authorship, but Panel Three reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse.

Think the actual author of ‘Love Story’ was flattered by this?

Just imagining how the late, great Victor Borge would have recited this story with his Phonetic Punctuation.

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Then, we drank. The end.

I actually understood this one. This could outsell snoopy’s “it was a dark and stormy night series.”

I have to agree with Linus. There are a lot of good lines in this one. Probably the best writing Snoopy ever did.
