Some businesses have no business doing on-line orders. You would think Home Depot would get it right, but no. We ordered 34 black cabinet pulls. Not one cabinet door in this house has a knob. They sent us 3. And they have no record of an order anywhere nor did they charge me. Veddy strange…..
On the other hand I apparently have 2 left thumbs. I ordered a stool from Wayfair. I put it together with the legs facing the wrong way, fixed that but then put the stringers on the wrong side. Old eyes and a tiny hex screw don’t go together. Finally my daughter took pity on my and put it together right. Sigh…
I decorated the front of my house for Easter. My home town and the neighboring town are having a decorating contest because they can’t have the Easter egg hunt in the park as the usually do. And because people are looking for fun things to do. So I made my house the Easter egg capitol of the state (or at least the village). Here’s my house:
Here you see the entire front of my house. The brick building to the right is the telephone company. It’s in that corner of the building, under that overhang part where there’s a pair of mourning doves nesting. This also shows what I have for a “front yard” – nothing – I’m just inches from the sidewalk. Maybe you can see I have daffodils blooming in front of the house.
Raccoons aren’t friends to cats, and they are bigger with longer claws, too. So, I don’t understand the kitty’s reasoning. Plus a nice plush coonskin cap would be a nice perch.
Many moons ago my chickens were squawking in the middle of the night, and when I opened the door to their shed a raccoon flew out and used my shoulder as a launching pad to the roof. I don’t know how I escaped getting hurt, and the chickens were fine. My very aggressive rooster would have kept it away.
And so, Chesney’s greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat ad nauseam’s grand ma/pa began the tradition of good deeds. Oh, wait, can’t be Chesney’s forebear. Bbear maybe (sorry).
I used to see Raccoons in my backyard all the time. They could be a bit pesky at times, but they were fun to watch. On another note, saw some robins and a varied thrush while out walking today. I also heard a squirrel and a raven. (No raccoons, though.)

A raccoon tore down my squirrel proof suet feeder last night. Now I need to find a raccoon proof suet feeder.
