Actually, you can’t kill something that’s not alive. It’s also that the smaller the “critter” the faster they can mutate. Virus, bacteria, smallest things move faster at it than mammals. So how did we end up with Bonespurs?

You will never get rid of me if there is no large scale testing, no collection of data, and no national strategy to deal with me.

And especially if you continue to believe The Messiah’s lies.

President Trump regularly pats himself on the back for announcing travel restrictions on China as the novel coronavirus emerged in January. Before the caseload in the United States exploded, Trump attributed what he considered a small number of cases to that decision. Even as deaths from covid-19 in the United States started to soar, he said he saved lives by imposing what he calls a “ban” on China.

“All of the evidence we have indicates that travel restrictions and quarantines directed at individual countries are unlikely to keep the virus out of our borders,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, associate professor and senior scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Health Security, at a congressional hearing Feb. 5.

The New York Times calculated that at least 430,000 people arrived in the United States on direct flights from China since Jan. 1, including nearly 40,000 in the two months after Trump imposed restrictions.

Moreover, screening proceedings of travelers from China have been uneven and inconsistent, the Times said.

In any case, the United States certainly was not the first country — by a long shot. We reviewed a list of country actions maintained by the Council on Foreign Relations and cross-checked with official announcements.

Six countries imposed travel restrictions even before the World Health Organization declared a global health emergency on Jan. 30. Another six announced travel restrictions that same day, followed by 11 countries (besides the United States) announcing restrictions Jan. 31.

But most countries imposed the restrictions immediately. By the time Trump’s restrictions took effect Feb. 2, an additional 15 countries had taken similar actions — and in some cases enacted even tougher bans.

But in any case, that adds up to 38 countries taking action before or at the same time the U.S. restrictions were put in place.

(And recall that Trump was excluded from the negotiations…)

    ~

The Treasury Department ordered that President Trump’s name be printed on stimulus checks being sent to millions of American workers impacted by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, The Washington Post reported Tuesday, citing senior IRS officials.

The move, which marks the first time a president’s name will appear on a disbursement from the IRS, will reportedly cause delays for some of the $1,200 payments Congress approved in the $2 trillion stimulus package last month, two senior agency officials told the newspaper.

The Treasury Department denied that the development caused a delay, telling the Post that the “Economic Impact Payment checks are scheduled to go out on time and exactly as planned.”

The department did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.

Trump’s full name will appear on the memo line, the Post reported. About 70 million Americans are expected to receive the check with Trump’s name.

The move to place Trump’s name on the checks came after the president privately suggested doing so to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the newspaper reported.

A president is not authorized to be a signer for legal disbursements by the U.S. Treasury, but administration officials said that Trump’s name would instead be featured below a line that reads, “Economic Impact Payment.”

An official from the the Treasury Department’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service will be the official signatory of the stimulus checks.

How about a truce. 50% of checks with Trumps name and 50% of checks with Pelosi’s name.

paper checks are for people without direct deposit. we all know this. direct deposit implies tech ownership and knowledge on how to use it. paper implies people without banking services (been there myself). having his name on the checks is a form of advertising to the poorest people that “he cares” and that they should vote for him this year. I personally don’t approve of this backdoor he’s using for political gain. whether it takes 3 extra days or longer, the recipients won’t care, only that they get some extra money. believe me, they have already spent it multiple times in their imaginations.

I’m surprised trump hadn’t already thought of that. He did say if we raked the forest floor, there wouldn’t be any forest fires. Makes about as much sense.

Food for thought: Capitalism at work: Recognizing that few conservatives comment on the strip anymore, perhaps an indication that mostly liberals are reading the strip anymore,

Have Scott Stantis and Eric Alee made a decision to cater to their new customers?
