Jack just wants to believe in superheroes. But Linton is right. Fortunately, they could use Jack as bait to lure the mysterious smiling man out. So Jack could meet his hero.
Everyone here has a point, but both Linton and Jack are tainted by their own personal biases. Linton’s latched onto the idea of him being a bad thing, and thus is actively demonizing him. Jack has latched onto the idea of him being a good thing, and thus is blindly glorifying him. Both are probably taking both stances further than they should.
Only Lottie, recognizing they don’t have adequate evidence to say one way or the other, is considering both sides of the picture.
Who cares whether he’s a hero or a villain – he’s a mystery! Kids, it’s your job to find him and figure out what he’s all about, so stop arguing and start investigating!

Hmm. The lads attacking that poor widow had it coming, but what did Mr. Gravy do? He wasn’t a threat to anyone.

Who knew satin and lace could be so inspirational and yet divisive.

I would go with the chimpanzee… after all, Lottie is a gimlet eyed girl.
My only reservation is that I don’t think chimpanzees are nine feet tall.
Unless it WAS an advanced chimpanzee?
