I think we already gathered that B.O. didn’t want Gertie and the rest of his family to learn the whole story of what happened between him and Breathless. I don’t see how hiding the paper will help if the whole story will come out in the movie, though.
Mammoth Pictures originated in the Little Orphan Annie strip, but it has appeared in this strip more than once in recent years. Today, we learn that the actress Fortuna Dyer is cast as Breathless. She is probably significant to this story. We already met Morgan Byrd, who plays Dick Tracy, in the Midnite Mirror story.
Mammoth Studios is the “go to” (fictional) studio for many productions, so they don’t run the risk of either insulting a major film company or giving free advertisement to them. The name was used in movies with Abbott & Costello and Red Skelton as well as on TV shows as diverse as The Monkees, The New Scooby Doo Movies, and Endeavour. This is one place that tries to trace the name: http://mercurie.blogspot.com/2006/06/most-successful-studio-never-to-exist.html
*1-*Fortune Seeker poses next to the Melville City Film award for Best Cameo In A Straight To DVD movie.
2-Melville City Times: Fortune Seeker stopped in our fair city to pick up her award for her role in “I’m No Dead Yet” (that is not a typo readers). She said it was bigger than any award anyone has ever received – literally – and hoped the chocolate inside the gold foil was of the dark variety. (It’s not.)
Yes, it’s a combo of Morgan Conway and Ralph Byrd, both of whom played Tracy in serials and featured films. NO… Breathless Mahoney was never associated with Lips Manlis in the comics, but was allegedly his moll in the film. She was played by Madonna, who sang the Oscar winning song, Sooner or Later. (Call it poetic license for the film)
The name Morgan Byrd refers to Morgan Conway and Ralph Byrd, who played Tracy in the 30s and 40s. Conway played him in two features for RKO, and Byrd was Tracy, played him in four serials, two features, and a TV show.

Good morning story start refreshers !
…Because we forgot what this is about after a refreshing interlude. The actor playing Mahoney looks good, until they get her into make up.

What general-circulation newspaper — hell, what newspaper other than “Variety” — uses “lens” as a verb and a synonym for “film(v)” or “shoot”?
tcayer over 4 years ago
So they shorten the headline with the word “Lens” and then leave half the row blank…

If this movie is a “period drama” will we be confronting the fact that Tracy & Co are decades older than they look?

I’m breathless with anticipation over her upcoming biopic of Madonna.

If it’s a “period drama,” how do they explain Dick Tracy not aging since that period? Hmm.

So, bleached blonde bimbo “star” Fortuna Dyer is coming to Tracyville. She should shake things up, for better or for worse….
