If they don’t do something about the Doc, he will be a ghost, that will be another death to haunt them…

Tarzan, whistling tunelessly to himself as he strolled casually over to the writhing, moaning doctor slowly expiring in this hellhole to which he had guided the hapless film crew, wished fervently that he had pockets, because strolling casually is so difficult when you have no place to put your hands.

Tarzan said, never mind we don’t need him, for my secret identity is—Dr. Oz!

The drums are announcing that the Ghost Who Walks is having a barbecue of the remains of the lion, whose heart that he and Devil just ate.

So does the ghost have to pay long distance charges for the distant drum message?

I’m not getting this. Tarzan’s plan to relieve the tension was to casually stroll over to inspect the doctor. How was that supposed to relieve the tension? And that plan backfired because the doctor’s condition was serious? That doesn’t seem to make sense. Oh well, maybe I’m just missing something. I’m not surprised though at one of Tarzan’s plans backfiring. This seems to happen regularly much to the detriment of whoever happens to be following him at the time.

I think ERB was writing to folks who like action, not plot.
