Reminded of an early dinner at the Polo Club Indian restaurant in DC in 1995 (when it was more elegant. On a return visit some years later it had a more active, casual vibe). Since we were the only customers at that hour, the four waiters seemed to take turns refilling our water glasses after every sip. At one point one of them added to my wife’s even when she hadn’t sipped and overflowed it.

To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as necessary.

Mr. Dithers asked Dagwood about that and Dagwood said it depended on what’s in the glass.

I have a vague idea that I titled a ca 1992 lay sermon on fellowship as support for ministry “Filling the Cup.”

A former co-worker was very much ‘Glass half full’. She said I was ‘Glass fell on the floor and broke in a hundred pieces’.
