i actually followed Funky & Crankshaft for years – and would still do, but the local papers dropped them unannounced years ago & the website where i used to go read them drove me crazy with slow loading, shallow archives, & WAY too many adverts.

Funky Winkerbean almost perfectly mirrored my high school years in NE Ohio. Then the characters magically grew up and I grew away.

i’ve since replaced them with Endtown.

Haven’t seen Funky since the city’s other broadsheet closed up in 1980. Crankshaft has been in the locals for at least a decade.
