Elly has pulled out the typewriter. It appears that Connie was right yesterday, in spite of Elly’s laughing at her for making this suggestion.
As for the punchline, considering that Elly’s actual job title at the library is the assistant to the assistant librarian’s assistant (no joke) ; I would say the title of “Mom” is a lot better.
One of the reasons I read this strip, I’ve been reading it for years and even though I know it’s a red this strip always seems to satisfy. Thank you Lynn.
Mothers are the most overworked, underpaid profession, with no chance for advancement. Most get their raise in pay from the affection and appreciation of their family
After a year and a half I miss the excitement of my old job, even while I remember the stresses that ate away at my health. The glory days that can still come are no match for the ones already experienced.
It’s good to see things returning to normal after Jon’s PITA cousin Fiona left! I think Lynn Johnston just had to throw a little monkey wrench into the strip to make things more interesting and remind us all of some of the kooky relatives we all have!
A mother tagline is better than any other tags. Working women underestimate their value as a mother. Any person in trouble looks for mother, be it young or old.

And just about the time she thinks being a Mom isn’t a fulfilling role, she will have to change a diaper that the baby “fulfilled”…

I believe we have, possibly, rediscovered the fact that Mom and Dad are ‘essential’ jobs. Now, if I could just figure out the status of in-laws.

My female up-bringer was my “sister-in-law”, “mom”, “best friend”, “advisor”, etc., and when she annoyed me “MOTHEEER!” Now I miss her every day!
