She’s giving him a V with the back of her hand? Dang! :D I didn’t know they were allowed to show that kind of thing in family strips! (The Brits know what I’m talking about.)
I miss Mark Tatulli. Ever since Steenz took over, I’ve been trying to get into this comic strip. but I miss the innocence of the old Heart. Granted, I know that eventually she has to grow up, but she’s turning into a self entitled, teenage brat. I gave it a go, and I’m done. Peace out!
I gave this new style a few weeks, it’s just plain NOT good. The art style is bland, the story arc is boring and and it’s not even remotely funny. I’d rather reread old strips than read this bland excuse for a strip.
No disrespect to Steenz, but this is no longer the Heart that we’ve all know and loved. It’s not really Steenze fault, but I for one must reluctantly bid adieu to the new look….farewell.
I like some of reality that goes here. We all loved the old Heart but hey I watched when my kids went from one side of the spectrum to the other wondering WTH? I also had to deal with going to schools that had been locked down because a middle schooler brought a gun to school. Fire alarms pulled when exams were being given and such. That’s reality. This is easy by comparison.
Sure I like my escapism but this is nothing. I also see Dean missing what Heart sees with a change coming over her. She is getting the chance that she wants but maybe he also knows Hearts ego while missing his own. It’s called growing up and kids just don’t stay kids. Even in comics.
It’s funny that the comments section of this strip seems a lot like middle school. You voice your displeasure about it and someone tries to put you down. I am trying to give this strip a chance, but it is a totally different comic strip from the one I liked and decided to follow. The art style is different, the writing style is different. It’s like your favorite sitcom was recast, put on a different set and changed to a drama. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion.
To everyone who complains about the new art style, I think I know what has influenced Stennz. Her style reminds me of thin-line style that is popular now in animation . It is a style based more around thinner lines, rounder shapes and noodle-like appendages.
All the characters now look rounder and fuller. The biggest difference is in the hair. Tatulli drew in the old thick-line style, and his hair was drawn as individual strands. Steenz just puts a solid colored blob on top of their heads. Dean now has curly hear, instead of the messy hair that made him looked scatter-brained.
I’m afraid the thin-line style is now the standard among young cartoonists such as Steenz. Old styles like Tatulli’s are on the way out.
I love how 10- 14 people commented on this strip daily when Mark was still at the helm. Then the moment Steenz takes over, at his request mind you, everyone wants come out the woodwork and immediately bash it because they don’t like change.

Dean lacks the romance in his soul.

And yet, Heart never has the time to clean her room.

Sorry Dean, I’m with Heart. There’s nothing like standing on an empty stage looking out into a quiet auditorium.

Heart is leaving behind her OLD friend though. She may regret brushing Dean off like this.
