I’m starting to feel really sorry for modern comic strip writers. I’m sure they try to find things that can’t be construed as political commentary. Some readers just can’t seem to resist taking shots, I guess. I’m sorry, Wiley and others.

I think this comic can be interpreted in any way the reader sees fit…republican pol, democrat pol, televangelist, pundit, CEO, newscaster… the options are endless and all equally possible.
I’d say it looks more like a blogger. Who for some reason are being touted as experts in the news these days. “Hey this guy spouts off on a web site, he must know what he is talking about. Lets put him on the air.”
If the people so opposed to Limbaugh, Beck, et al would stop watching them in order to pick up sound bites for their diatribes, the ratings would fall far enough to have the programs canceled.
Bloggers, and their voices, rise as the media abdicates its responsibility for useful journalism—filling the void, often more adroitly than mainstream pundits. Actual reporting? Not so much anymore—no money in it.
You had best be careful, TheFinalSolution. We “poor” Texans might just stop sending our oil your way. And if you are wondering if we can make that much of a difference, consider this (based on something I read several years ago). If Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisana joined OPEC, they would form the second largest producer, I think after Saudia Arabia. So that is how much oil (and money) we have in this “poor third world country” called Texas.
And SCAATY_423, you are absolutely correct about reasonableness being considered a medical condition in Texas. Just check out the Governer’s office and the legislature and you can be sure most of those folks are healthy and completely free of reason!
And as an interesting side note apropos of nothing, Texas is allowed to fly its state flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. This is in recognition of Texas once having been a sovereign nation unlike all the rest of the “lesser” 49 states. (Just some good-natured kidding, folks.)
Now we know where Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Charles Schumer, Barack Obama, Al Gore, Barbara Boxer, and the rest of the liberal slime that has poisoned our Country and twisted the minds of our youth came from.
What makes you think the character is a pundit instead of a televangelist? I’m sure the mega-churches use similar systems to create their talking-heads.
Good point. In fact, I seem to recall quite a number of them claim to have had some very rough upbringings before some defining moment when they “came to Jesus” and began a ministry…
I’m really tired of people trashing Keith Olbermann. Keith would criticize President Obama more in one week than the entire Fox News Channel criticized President Bush in 8 years.
After carefully considering his well crafted and deeply thought out message I have to reluctantly disagree. It seems as if some of his assumptions might be premature. Perhaps if he and I spoke at some length he would agree with me that FLARGWAPPY HOOCHAMEG BLUFFFERDY SQWAMAGORPHY BLAPBARF BLIBBIDY would be closer to the truth.
Ok I get how the unthinking masses and media lemmings were mentally brainwashed and programmed to vote for Obama. But how can anyone today look at the mess and laughing stock he has made of this country and still support him or even acknowledge that they were amongst the brainwashed masses that allowed him to sit in the big boy’s chair in the first place. Not only has he done more damage to this country and our global reputation than any other president in the history of the USA, but he continues to actually delude himself into thinking that he is right in doing so.
I for one read these comics on Gocomics, and put up with the popups and so on, for the delight of the commentary.
Although I live in Washington, I’m a born and bred Texan and was proud of it until Shrub put a dent into it - but then I should have known when the man had to be helped onto a horse.

Thank you, Wiley. I’ve long wondered how they chose the morons for those cable “news” shows.
And I always thought Glenn Beck looked kinda feral.
