Today’s Born Loser is part of The Big Thank You, a coordinated surprise for June 7 by many cartoonists to express appreciation to all the essential workers who have stayed on the job throughout the Coronavirus Pandemic to keep society functioning. Rick Kirkman and The National Cartoonists Society organized this event and challenged cartoonists to insert six symbols to represent the various essential worker groups, either hidden or as part of the script for the strip. I chose to make the symbols the subject of my script to overtly express my thanks to all the essential workers. We were, also, asked to suggest a charity for those readers who might wish to join in the spirit of this appreciation by making a contribution. For those interested in contributing, the charity I chose is DirectRelief.org.
