I don’t know if things have changed, but when I had mine done, I had to leave them in for three weeks, put hydrogen peroxide on them every day, and twirl the earring around so the hole wouldn’t heal around the post. They were also sore for a while and getting them put in was a bit of a shock. Hope Heart’s been briefed on that, too.
Following this storyline has brought back all kinds of memories of my own efforts to get my ears pierced. It took several years. Then my dad unwittingly helped me. He came home from a business trip and brought me Snoopy earrings….for pierced ears. I used that to convince Mom that we couldn’t hurt Dad’s feelings. It worked! She took me to the Health Department to get them pierced (that’s a whole story all by itself!)
Dad was a junior high principal (my age group). He knew that most of the girls at his school had pierced ears so he assumed mine were, too! (This was 1974.) He knew I loved Snoopy and Woodstock, so when he saw the earrings he thought they were perfect! He genuinely had no idea my ears weren’t pierced!
And it’s easier to cancel an appointment than wait for one. The local place that really catered to young girls had a wait of a couple of months ~ they have twins pierce both ears at the same time! I went to a walk-in (tattoo parlor).

Kat’s face looks like the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz. This art style is not doing it for me.

Just add a baby to the family. Then when the baby’s hungry, everyone will have pierced ears…

Like I said yesterday, mutual warmth and respect instead of a cold war.
