Is it just me, or does the puss moth caterpillar’s “scary ‘face’” remind me of Ziggy?

Hiroo Onoda surrendered in 1974. But he wasn’t the last soldier that fought for Japan to give up. Teruo Nakamura surrendered in Indonesia later that same year.

There’s this nifty bit in the Wiki article on Onoda:

“Although he had killed people and engaged in shootouts with the police, the circumstances (namely, that he believed that the war was still ongoing) were taken into consideration, and Onoda received a pardon from President Ferdinand Marcos.”

All it takes is one predator to look at the “scary face” and say, “he looks cute and delicious!”

“An average”? Isn’t the speed of light in space a constant?

The light speed is about 1,080,000,000 kilometres per hour. And it takes about eight minutes for it to reach earth fr the Sun. Now imagine how far away Sun is. (It’s 149,597,870 kilometres). The fastest spacecraft was NASA’s Juno probe which had a maximum speed of 266,000 kilometres per hour). Now tell me how long it would take to reach sun at that speed and get back to earth?

Right. He wasn’t just a common deserter with a story.

    Take care and gesundheit.

An “average” of 8:20? What and how any variation? Is the variation continuous as we have variation as we speak, or is it a seasonal thing with variations of earth’s orbit? And how do you define “a ray”? A single photon? A visible beam of some duration? Seriously, these are questions raised by the statement.

But that light takes about 100,000 years to reach the sun’s surface from the center. This is due to the density of atoms at the sun’s core.

Actually that is how long it takes a photon to reach earth. The sun rays are an atmospheric phenom as the sun’s light illuminates and defracts in the air and moisture. Yet it took that photon thousands of years to reach the sun’s surface from the core.

The speed of Sunlight isn’t that impressive when you take into consideration that it is downhill all the way. :oP
