Snoopy’s having a ruff season.

I’ve always thought that was mean, and I never did it with Molly.

Every time I get off the squeaky chair the dog goes to the window as he thinks I am chasing squirrels from the bird feeder!

Even if he hits the ball, we know that instead of running to first, he’ll chase after the ball.

In my rule book, that’s a balk.

He can’t sniff out foul play yet.

When he hits it, is it a hound ball?

Consider the pitcher’s tactics and then tell me who’s the “dog”?

I know it ruins the gag, but the umpire should call a balk

Wouldn’t those be considered practice swings? There was a player for the St. Louis Cardinals who used to try to do 3 of those in between each pitch.

As a lot of commenters have pointed out, the faking of throwing the ball is strictly used by infielders as a way to get runners out. If a pitcher does it to a batter, it’s a balk. However, if done without runners on any bases, there’s no penalty.

Every Labrador I have known was too smart to fall for this trick.
