Heh… I can almost hear her…“I’m what? A mouse? If that’s all I am, why’d you stand up and defend me? You’re as much a cat as I am a mouse, after all… If we’re just what we look like, you should’ve eaten me after you beat him up.Nope, I’m just a funny-looking human woman in a really good mouse suit. Sorry. ;)”
Wally, my dear, that is the laugh of a good mouse woman. Don’t let her get away! ;)In speaking of which, one thing I really like about your story, Aaron, is how normal and unheroic the main characters are. With this I am also including Al and Gustine, Wally, Holly, Allie, even Flask who’s an officer and the closest to a soldier of the major characters. No one is super heroic, beefy, macho and can go around topside kicking butt and taking names. No one is unrealistically beautiful or handsome, but all are very realistic and attractive characters in their own way. They all freak out (even Flask) during combat and they all have realistic and personalities we can relate to. Great job!
@AaronNeathery Rare are the times when I come across a strip comic or graphic novel for that matter that totally engulfs my imagination and curiosity. Being a fan of most anthropomorphic fare, yours is heads and shoulders above a lot of them. I find gushing over anything uncomfortable and a little embarrassing but in the case of your Endtown, I find it quite justifiable. Compelling, engaging, entertaining, dramatic, humorous, (and one of my favorites) consistent in scope, characterizations and quality. Good job, man. Great job, actually.
Like many, he sees love when he finds it. Are they willing to recognize it? Does it make any kind of sense? We await.Luv’it bro’. You’ve found the formulæ.
Yay! ! ! About time—-bless you, Aaron. Cat and mouse…too cute for words. This is heart-warming.
Don’t worry about Allie, when she crawls out of the bottle, maybe she’ll find someone for herself. The truth is, she won’t find anyone UNTIL she “drys out”.
I re-read the last two months, since just before Wally’s arrival in Endtown. Taken this way, I feel both Wally and Holly are feeling incredibly lonely, and it took a couple of shocks for each to see the other; Holly when Wally was delirious and his guard completely down, and he hugged her in desperate need for reassurance… which made her both see his need and feel she could, finally, really help someone instead of seeing them crumble in the restaurant all the time – if they even come back. (the “I’m sick of death” strip of last week was a clincher in her personality.)And now, for Wally, it’s seeing someone who won’t desert him, won’t give up on him, despite him pushing everyone away because he can’t feel trust, and being alone means he can survive better (the moment he wasn’t, two people died and he nearly did). They’re kind of both broken, of course – no one is really whole after six years of a new body and a dead planet and a war of unjust extermination. But it seems their breaks run in parallel lines for a bit. Maybe it’ll be enough. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
Great poster! The comment about how it could have been done by Franquin is completely on the nose – I knew there was a familiar ‘feel’ to the series and the poster – early- to mid-70s European adventure comics. And for this poster, Franquin indeed. Mr. Nethery, this is a HUGE compliment. :)

Hey, at least he finally gets his clothes back! ;-
And speaking of color, I think I’m actually glad that the strip itself is in B&W. It’s more consistent with the strip’s mood.

@3hourtour: But wouldn’t it have been a bit stupid of that patrol in the beginning to try and kill him?

There must be a lot in Charles Fort’s “New Lands” for her to laugh about.
