JohnnyDiego, that is the first speech I ever remember hearing a President say. I remember hearing him say that, turning to my mother, and telling her that if the President didn’t have to eat his broccoli, I wasn’t going to eat it. A short time later, we had broccoli, I ate it, and I’ve loved broccoli ever since. :D

There is a chemical in broccoli that tastes intolerably bitter to some people; most are insensitive to it. So the first thing the CSI crew should do is find out if any of the Veggies are ‘tasters’ so they can rule them out.

Check for the one wearing a cowboy outfit, since the only proper way to eat raw broccoli is with ranch dressing.

I think it’s the guy on his knee. Apparently he just expelled some broccoli induced gas, and the guy above him got whiff of it.

@prrdh – I’m one of those people, but I now tolerate it with a bunch of cheese melted on top.

Raw broccoli with hummus is good… so is roasted broccoli that’s been drizzled with olive oil and mixed with a bit of minced garlic, salt & fresh-ground pepper before putting in that 400F oven for about 10-15 min… ooooooooo

Best thing about broccoli is that you get to enjoy it again and again. And again, sometimes.

Yummy - haven’t had a broccoli sandwich in years! Will have to try the oil & garlic thing…

Steamed or boiled with lots of butter, or stir-fried with a bit of lemon pepper; or just raw, with or without dip - yum! Really DOES stink if stored overnight after being cooked (it’s in the cabbage family) but just reheat it and let the bowl air out a little…

    Great with cheese sauce, too!

Oh, and cauliflower with cheese sauce….! Steam a full head of cauliflower until it just starts to soften a little; pour melted Velveeta/butter sauce over it, and put it in the oven for 30 - 60 minutes; let the cheese get a little browned on the top…oh, I could eat a big bowl of it for dinner all by itself…
