And he’s just humming right along.

It doesn’t make it right, JohnnyDiego. Where do people get off thinking they’ve got the right to waste fuel.

Affording gas, JohnnyDiego, is not the issue. The issue is that profligate use of limited resources is what causes the USA to go to war to protect “our” oil interests. I doubt those who can afford expensive gas guzzlers are the ones who send their children off to fight those wars. Morality, ethics and responsible stewardship of limited resources should not be thrown to the wind just because a person has money.

Dilbert’s pointy haired boss is more evil, driving an Envirokiller 2000 SUV that runs on spotted owls.

One of my neighbors has the ginormous Hummer. I think he said it gets like 6 miles to the gallon. He only goes to car shows with it.

Ji2m, does that make it alright to waste our precious resources? See reese828’s comment.

How eco-friendly are those webs Spidey leaves all over the city? Are they biodegradable? Do birds and other animals get tangled up in them the way sea birds and other creatures reportedly get enmeshed by those plastic soda pop six-pack rings? Maybe he should look at his own environmental footprint before casting web fluid at others!

If people would take simple steps to limit fuel consumption - buy a more fuel efficient vehicle when buying a car, consolidate trips, and walk, bike, or take transit when possible, then we’d be less reliant on oil from unfriendly nations and would not find it as necessary to drill in challenging locations like the deep sea. If people took the additional step of demanding that all communities be walkable and developed in a transit-friendly matter, our fuel consumption could go way down, we’d have to spend less money on road construction, and people would be healthier (less sedentary).

My, my! All this fuss over a cartoon that really isn’t all that funny. But the gas issue is ongoing….I went to the station the other day…..entered inside to prepay….told the gal I wanted five dollars worth of gas………….she farted and handed me my receipt.

Conserving fuel is good, if you don’t you pay more. Using the pipelines we already have in place is good, not bad. Pointing fingers at “the other side” makes everything all better. :p

And JP, you are right on. :)

This is what was once refered to the “funnies”. Why not keep it that way? Please?

c’mon guys, at least the Hummer has emission controls, so the GG isn’t riding around on his Goblin Glider that is a well known polluter, as it spews sludge-laden smoke, and it’s real hard to throw toxic pumpkins riding around in an SUV.

AND it’s “keeping him off the streets” so to speak

I get that it’s just a comic - and I like the way Spidey is drawn. I did want to point out one misconception, however. pseudo noted that the troops are not there to control oil - and that the oil rich countries will keep selling to us regardless of war because they have a product, and we are the biggest customer who will buy it. Just want to note, however, that the market is growing by leaps and bounds with China surging forward in its effort to out-consume us. The oil rich countries don’t need us anymore - they’ve got lots of customers - but we still need them.

Please spare us the lecture, comicnut4636. The comic pages are full of, both, political and religious rants & discussions. No matter how much I dislike, that’s not going to change any time soon, unfortunately. Rather than complain about it (which does absolutely nothing but stir up a hornet’s nest of ugly remarks) I’ll just scroll past it if I don’t like it.

I suggest you do the same.

That Hummer isn’t big enough to even be an H3, like the one my son has for the “prestige”. But it’s the biggest thing that would fit in the comic panel.

Please. We have tons of oil on our own land that the government and environmentalists won’t let us get to like the wasteland of ANWR. They put a moratorium from drilling in the gulf, but give funds to Brazil to do just that. The prices are high because of this and OPEC.
