Unless she wants it to become dinner for a hungry raccoon or bird she shouldn’t leave her fish alone in a shallow pool like that. Outdoor fish ponds need places for the fish to hide from predators or they need to be deeper than a few inches of water.
When I was 10 I thought I’d be helpful & clean our fish tanks while mom was at work. I put all the fish in containers; scooped out all the rocks & rinsed them; scrubbed the tanks & rinsed them really well; and filled up the tanks with water from the sink. Mom worked late nights then, so it wasn’t until the next morning when I went out and found our gorgeous angelfish dead that I found out that I was supposed to put some powder in the tank that made the water safe for him. We’d had him for over 2 years. (At 10 I’d only been back in the states for 3, so it was FOREVER in my mind) Mom was able to save the rest, but he was almost 4 inches tall & just the coolest thing. I felt guilty for years after.

Good thing the pool isn’t the fish’s normal home. They grow to fit their habitat. Our goldfish grew to seven inches in our pond!

Hopefully someone will replace the “shallow water—no diving” sign before he returns

Unless that pool is secretly and deceivingly long and deep, I wouldn’t call it “swimming”.

If they can take Wally to the park, Penny figures letting the fish swim in the wading pool is the same for a fish.

Oh Man, don’t put a fish in chlorinated water, kids.
