I once got into a very good-natured insult contest with a student before class started. He started off with, “You’re so fat…” to which I interrupted him and went into a long rant about hitting a little too close to home and body shaming and not letting our little contest be fun any more and all that. Then, after a beat, added. “Especially coming from a kid who’s so skinny he has to run around in the shower just to get wet.” He declared me the winner on the spot!
