There are two ways to compare a dogs age to a human timescale. The most accurate is to multiply the age in years by 4 and add 16 (a dog matures fully in 1 year, a human in 20, so 20+(4*Age-1) or 16+Age*4) which is 32 years old.
The other way is to multiply the age in years by 7, which is 28.
How the cartoonist got 26 is beyond understanding (26/4 = 6½).

Twenty-six is not an even multiple of four.

Time for a rant. How come dogs only live 12-16 years but elephants, tortoises, monkeys, and horses all live longer?
