Besides, there’s a trade war going on. Wouldn’t want to get into the middle of that.

If you’re off a little bit, you might suck up one of those islands they took so much trouble to make.

Or you could end up in the ocean far from land.

If he digs it another foot or so deeper, I bet his sister would gladly fill the hole in for him, and he wouldn’t even need to move.

I remember trying to do this, but only dug about two feet down when I hit a boulder. That was it. Adam, now is the time for a science lesson about the earth and it’s layers and how thick each one is. Turn this into a teaching moment.

I hear there is a big hole in Butte Montana that was on it’s way to China but if got filled up with water and now it is poisoned. I’m thinking that whole, hole digging idea is best left to ants and gophers.

Got a long way to go Clayton, the deepest hole ever drilled (12.2 km) was only 0.1% of the diameter on the earth

That is a very large field behind their house, not another house in sight.

Let him dig. That part of the lawn is already ruined, and pretty soon he won’t be able to chuck the dirt out of the hole anyway.

One problem—kids have been injured and even killed by holes/tunnels that they’ve dug collapsing and burying them. Dad is right to stop the digging while the kid could still get out if it collapsed.
