While visiting Vietnam on business our high end translator, who spoke 7 languages with 40 years of experience, said that of all the English accents from all over the world, the heavy Scottish accent was the most challenging to understand. Of course, and with great pride, our colleague from Scotland took that as a compliment.
The trick is not to learn about politicians from the politicians themselves (or their opponents or a confused cat). Unfortunately, it takes some research among reliable sources from a number of different points of views, which (sigh) does not seem to be the American Way. It’s become rah! rah! my guy right or wrong. Don’t throw out the whole of the opposition, just the “collaborators”.
