My grandmother was so notoriously late for everything that my grandfather would keep all the clocks set an hour fast.
As a final tribute to her, when she died in 1973, the family made arrangements with the mortuary to bring her casket to the chapel an hour after the services were supposed to start.
At first I thought it was the man apologizing for having followed his friend the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland underground, and then having lost track of time and fallen asleep down there.
