I don’t think the farmer will like Chesney’s eggs.

I got the neatest thing. I ordered a Criptid Crate from that company and today I received a tee shirt with a picture of Bigfoot and it says “The Original Social Distancing Expert, a mask that has a Bigfoot being beamed up into a UFO on it and a device that emits assorted Bigfoot sounds! Plus a Bigfoot Field Guide. I’m a huge Bigfoot fan so I was happy,

Next month I’ll get a box about another Cryptid , so much fun!

Uh, look up “Highway of Tears” on Wikipedia before you get too smug.

Tongue was doing the tickle dance with the cheek. I had seen the news bit about some shooting in Ontario (Toronto ?) not long back. Sadly, our wicked Usaian ways have been drifting north of the Great White Line.

So the walls were drafty, huh? He should be used to that with the drafty windows in the warehouse.

    Today is:

National Anisette Day. On July 2nd, we recognize a liqueur derived from aniseed on National Anisette Day. Aniseed from the anis herb gives anisette its licorice or fennel flavor. While usually a dry dry liqueur, distillers sometimes add a sugar syrup for a sweeter result. Spain, Italy, Portugal, and France lead the world in drinking this licorice tasting drink.

The herb of the aniseed, usually the main ingredient in anisette, is considered to have medicinal qualities. Sweeter than other anise-flavored liqueurs, anisette’s association with a variety cures date back to ancient Egypt. As a liqueur, distillers create a dryer anisette in Europe than they do in the United States. Distillers add other spices such as coriander and fruit to distill anisette, too.

While most enjoy anisette by sipping it, the liqueur can be mixed as a cocktail, too. However, pure anise extract should not be drunk straight. Since its alcoholic content is high, it irritates the throat. However, mixing it in with coffee, gin, bourbon, or water will bring out a bit of a sweet flavor. The solution? Bake some anise cookies!

If you’re the one who eats all the black jelly beans, you will likely savor a shot with anisette. The licorice flavor comes from the same anise plant that some licorice candies are made.

I got a box of Georgia peaches yesterday from a place called Tree Ripe Farms (or something like that. A friend of mine encouraged me for the past 2 years to get peaches from these guys, but it’s a big 25-pound box and it costs $40. But she said they’re the best peaches she’s ever eaten. I got on their mailing list and much to my pleasure, they were coming to Madison on the first day of my vacation (July 1). I didn’t think I could use a whole box of peaches, so I got one of my brothers (Daniel) to go in it with me. They were selling right off their truck (a big semi) from 3:00 – 4:30 in a bowling alley parking lot. We got there promptly at 3:00 and there was already a long line (a double line, in fact). But we were amazed at how fast the line moved along. It took less than 5 minutes to get our peaches. They’re not quite ready to eat yet. They said in the flyer that came with the peaches that we need to let them sit on a counter or something for 2-3 days to finish ripening then we can put them in the refrigerator once they soften. The peaches look so good I can hardly wait to start eating them! There were 66 peaches in the box so we each got 33 peaches. So it came out to about 60 cents a peach. But the long lines waiting for peaches look like a good sign that those peaches will be as good as my friend told me they are. Daniel and I are already talking about possibly getting more on July 29 when the Tree Ripe people return to that same bowling alley parking lot if we find the peaches to be as good as Julia told me they are.

Well, if Chesney could hang out there a few days, July 6 is National Fried Chicken Day. Dinner Time!

I always figured Chesney could out-squawk a chicken, and I think I have been proven right.

Off topic here, but this really annoys me. I read several comics on arcamax and they recently changed the posting comments thing. Now, you can only do it if you have a facebook account. I miss seeing everyones’ comments.

OT: I posted this on BCN but wanted to share with my Ten Cats fans also. Four weeks ago today I went to the shelter and was adopted by Katie, my avatar. She rules and we love her. Her personality is coming out daily as she gains confidence in Hubby and me. She watches me and studies my eyes and follows me wherever I go. If I sit down she is on my lap. Our routine is to give her the Greenies treats in the morning and comb her hair [she long-haired] and treats at night. She learned not to scratch the furniture quickly and to use her pole instead. She climbs and naps on it daily. And she is full of beans when she runs around and takes the corner on a skid. She appears to be happy.

Looks like Chesney is in a fowl mood. (Sorry couldn’t resist.) How is he going to get out of this chicken outfit? On another note, saw two ravens while out walking today. I also saw a tree frog in my garden and three rabbits on the way to the library.
