Trees are full of insects. Watched a tree hugger friend once hug a fig tree. I know I should have told her about the red ants busy collecting the figs but for some reason (probably her paean of nice beautiful gentle nature) I just watched. I plead the innocence of youth, your Honour :)

I would just as soon gently stroke a leaf. I like bugs but not pressed up against my chest.

For dogs, it’s not just trees, but any vertical surface.
