Calvin can’t see the forest for the trees! He’s really going far out on a ‘limb’ with that thought. Calvin might ‘leave’ this life without needing to pack his ‘trunk’.“In that day shall the ‘branch’ of the Lord be beautiful and glorious…” Isaiah 4:2a I’m with you on the resurrection, puppybreath! PTL
At the moment, Hobbes is wishing that he were one of the smaller cats, because they have 9 lives.
In panel 4, Hobbes has let go of the sled, and he is leaning back so that his center of mass is now behind the sled. The only thing holding him on the sled is the fact that his feet are resting under the back of Calvin’s head. If Calvin leans forward slightly by pulling on the handle, Hobbes will fall off — which would probably be a lot safer than staying on.
I’m looking for a panel where the sled is actually in contact with the ground … nope, airborne every time, it looks like. I love the use of that effect to show the hazard of high speed.
I like everything, God has created, but I don’t like the situation humans have brought earth, it’s a mess and I think, we need someone who saves everything and brings it into order again!
@LX013, the last time someone brought order to the mess was called The Flood, and I’m not sure I can swim that well! Although and ark would be useful with all the rain right now….hmmm.
…that’s what I thought, commentator, but at a second look, i don’t think hobbes is rolling his eyes, i think he is just eyeing the tree that they just missed at (apparently) breakneck speed; either way, it is funny…
I hope that either I will go to heaven (hopefully) or be reincarnated as the first living thing born after my death. Hopefully, I won’t know for sure for a LONG time.
“we need someone who saves everything and brings it into order again.”“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved (alive): Matthew 24:22a“…and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30a
Sigh! If only reincarnation were true AND we get to choose. I’ll be tall and thin, and be a trained ballet dancer. Guess what I am not this time around.
Ha ha ha! Love Hobbes reaction. If Calvin just steers, they may not have to worry about any form of life after death anytime soon.+++++Speaking of life after death:.Two priests died at the same time and met Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, “I’d like to get you guys in now, but our computer is down. You’ll have to go back to Earth for about a week, but you can’t go back as priests. So what else would you like to be?”.The first priest says, “I’ve always wanted to be an eagle, soaring above the Rocky Mountains.”.“So be it,” says St. Peter, and off flies the first priest..The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, “Will any of this week ‘count’, St. Peter?”.“No, I told you the computer’s down. There’s no way we can keep track of what you’re doing.”.“In that case,” says the second priest, “I’ve always wanted to be a stud.”.“So be it,” says St. Peter, and the second priest disappears..A week goes by, the computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter to recall the two priests. “Will you have any trouble locating them?” He asks..“The first one should be easy,” says St. Peter. “He’s somewhere over the Rockies, flying with the eagles. But the second one could prove to be more difficult.”.“Why?” asked the Lord..“He’s on a snow tire, somewhere in North Dakota.”
Christianity teaches that it was Paul who brought the message of the resurrection to the Gentiles, but that it was the Jewish eyewitnesses of the resurrection who first told others about it. Their accounts were passed down through the generations, both verbally and in written form, until they reached the present day.
A story about resurrection is not logical, so Christianity is not based entirely on logic. It is based on believing in something that cannot be proven using logic.
Don’t know if you’ll see this, Annelise, since I post late in the day, but in my experience, a tobaggan is similar to a sled with no rails—a flat wooden bottom and lots of fun.
Rosebud was a sled, not a toboggan. (I assume everyone’s seen that movie by now who’s going to!) And what Calvin & Hobbes are riding is a sled. (Toboggans are way more fun!)

Reincarnation would mean that I would be living life over, and over, and over, and over……. But I repeat myself.
Here are some of Charlie Brown’s thoughts on a similar topic. He can be very succinct at times:

I think Hobbes answered the question, and Hobbes isn’t necessarily religious or not, he just knows what he wants, and pain is never on the list.

Calvin keeps looking back at Hobbes when he is speaking, which makes Hobbes’ nervousness about Calvin’s steering well justified.
