SNL did a nice skit (with guest star John Hamm, I think?) about some people who are introduced at a party by the hostess who thinks “you have so much in common,” but won’t admit that the wheelchairs have anything to do with it—“Oh, I didn’t notice.” They resent the presumption, but end up hitting it off, comparing notes about equipment.

It is one thing If you know there is only one mosque or any other religion in the area. Even then you ask, not assume.
