The landscaping is finished. It’s so pretty now. My neighbor stopped by this morning when I took the trash out for pickup. It stood there for a few seconds, and then he said, “ Oh my”. Yeah that pretty much sums it up!
It’s amazing what fake grass can do. ( useless to grow the real thing in the desert. They won’t let me use that much water)
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday. It was a quiet birthday – I didn’t go out and do anything. Normally, my sister, Mary comes up for my birthday and we do things, but with this stupid COVID thing, we didn’t get together. But I had a few phone calls from family & friends, I enjoyed beautiful weather outside and I actually did a little yard work (shame on me for working that hard on my birthday!). And Mark stopped by with 2 watermelons from my garden (my garden is at his place), so I got to enjoy some of that. So it really was a very nice day. Nobody thought to bring me a cake, so I baked my own. I’m okay with that.
The roofer who was supposed to call on Monday finally called. He’s coming to look at my roof on Thursday (or he said he is). The other 2 roofers still have not come (unless they came early in the morning before I got up) or called. I may need to call them back. So far Hascheider (I hope I spelled that right) Roofing is my top choice since my next-door neighbor is familiar with them and said they are very good and a friend said they did the roof on their house years ago and were very good. And they’re busy for a couple months, so that suggests they’re good. The one that called yesterday said he had one project to do before he could get to me, but he could do mine in a week or so. But he asked about sending me a contract and all I want first is an estimate (detailed like Hascheider said he would send). I finally got him to agree to email me an estimate, but when he described what he would do (leave the old shingles on and put the new roof over that), he lost points with me. There is only one layer of shingles on my roof and I know you can put new shingles over the old ones, but the last roofer we had used inferior materials so the gravel stuff is coming off those shingles (and has been doing so for years now), so I suspect there may be some leaking under those shingles that I’m unaware of (I’m not going up on that high roof to check for soft spots!). I want the old shingles removed so we know the condition of the wood underneath.
National Soft Serve Ice Cream Day. I love soft ice cream. I have an ice cream maker that I just recently got dirt cheap on clearance at Walmart, but I haven’t used it yet. I was planning on making ice cream while I’m still on vacation. I wonder how soft it will be?

We will gather far apart on the beach, exchanging stories and having dinner from a wonderful Mexican restaurant he and I enjoyed. I have the Tree of Life necklaces made with his ashes for his sisters and nieces, and his gold coins for the nephews. It’s going to completely drain me. A short detour on the drive home will allow me a quick visit with my sister, distancing outside. Still in the low 100s here, but the cooling system was finally fixed yesterday. And a good neighbor will will take care of the dogs and cats.

I have always brushed a disc right before play. Me old Garrard Zero 100 C turn table has a “Wow”, caused by an out of round idler wheel. I can send it off to be re rubbered but have been going digital for sometime now.
The Enviro Shake shingles are the latest thing to come down the pike. The consumer troubleshooter radio show in Denver (KHOW 630) highly recommends them.

Good thing Oliver didn’t say that to Chesney. He would have made a huge fuss and blew everything out of proportion. With Mr. Hollingsworth, It’s just a simple misunderstanding. (And a funny one, too.) On another note, saw two rabbits and a Wilson’s warbler while out walking today.
